Mi Casa Su Casa
Exercise is something that for a long time I – like a lot of peeps – despised. Well, I have to go a little farther and say that I not only despised it – I didn’t participate in such an activity. Hence and extra 50 pounds to my frame.
All of that has changed now. Why? I can’t really say that there is one big reason. I am actually healthy in the sense of good blood work, mental stamina, etc. I know that my wife has much to do with my decision to work out and shed the gristle. The other reason would have to be my son. I want to be here when he has his 60th bday. Lastly I just want to feel better about my self.
There is one other reason that struck me last night while lying in bed. “Mi Casa Su Casa” My house is your house.
What if I were to tell you that someone has purchased a house for you fully paid for? Here is the catch – Someone other than you is responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of that house. Most of us would shout about this in celebration. BUT – the problem is that your maintenance person is a lazy, overeating, lethargic, slothful, selfish person that does nothing but take advantage of the place that they were meant to maintain. I mean, they have a great personality. They make everyone laugh and everyone seems to love this person – but they just don’t take responsibility for the house.
1 Corinthians 3:16 (New International Version)
16Don’t you know that you yourselves are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit lives in you?
This hit me right under the gut…I hope you got the fat pun!
I am the lazy, slothful, selfish…well you know…that guy. Are you as well?
My house is HIS house right? So what are we doing with the shell that HE lives in?
If we give out and die He has lost another place to live. Now this may sound corny to you, but hear me out -
I have the opportunity to be a vessel of His Spirit. I get to carry Him into the earth. INSIDE ME -
The Holy Spirit has a dwelling place among sinners in a unique way when I am around. Did you get that?
But, if I dont take care of my shell – my body – I am letting the house that HE PAID FOR go to the dogs. This house is a house of His Spirit. All I have to do is maintain what He has paid for. I get to live here and so does He. What good are we to the Kingdom and to the earth if we are dead?
Please exercise. Make a decision to keep up His house. He is worth it and so are you.
15 pounds down – 35 to go,
Matt
WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS?

I couldn’t agree more Matt. We have known each other for awhile now and by far, I have been neglecting the temple that God bought me. Too many times we forget that God is right here, right beside us every step of the way in our lives. He sees everything, including the times I have eaten way too much for no real reason, or those times that I would rather not even walk accross a parking lot just because I am too lazy. I just am so thankful that God isn’t as lazy as I am, or that he cares much more about me than how I have cared about my body over the years. I made the decision a while back to do something about it and glad to hear you have too.
